But let’s get quality focused here – would giving away a 400 word blog post, written on a general subject like Internet Marketing, be enough to get someone to give up their name and email address?
Let’s assume they did and then they received their free offer. Here is what they will probably do –
Just as quickly as they finished reading it, maybe even before they’ve read it.
Now on the flip side, would someone give up their name and email address to receive a well-written report focused on a topic they wanted to know more about?
Of course they would. The catch now is how to create a free offer that is so compelling and information packed that they want to hear more from you.
Compelling Free Offers
First, what exactly is a compelling free offer?
- It is an offer that makes people feel good about themselves after reading it.
- It may contain helpful tools or tips.
- It may divulge a secret method or technique.
- It’s an offer that leaves them wanting more – this is taken directly from my musician spouse
- It’s an offer that makes people want to follow, connect and learn more from you.
- It’s an offer that establishes you as the go-to expert in that field.
Overall, your unbelievable free offer must be about THEM and how you can help THEM.
Creation Step-by-Step
The best way to create a product like this is take what you already know or already have and use that.
In other words, if you know and love the subject of weight loss after pregnancy and you have a lot written about that subject, take some of your best blog posts and compile them into a report.
But what if you haven’t written a whole lot on the subject?
Well then you have a couple options – start writing or use PLR to help you out. Either way, you want to start out with some sort of outline for what your report leads to.
For example,
- Title page
- Personal Introduction – what’s your story
- Disclaimer statement
- Introduction to pregnancy pounds
- Nutrition and Weight Loss
- 5 Myths to Losing Weight
- The Role of Exercise
- How to Set Achievable Goals – leading into next step
- Resources Page – also covering next step and why it will help them (link to product or service to purchase perhaps)
I brainstormed this in about 30 seconds, but this is the general idea. Have an outline of what you want to cover in your report. It makes putting the report together so much easier.
Plus, it’s a good habit to get in to as you can create your own product for sale using this same method.
Make It Lead Somewhere
This is probably the last thing most people think about. But not you, not after learning how to create a compelling free offer.
Imagine this – a new subscriber has just finished your report on weight loss after pregnancy. It was a compelling free offer and so they are impressed by you. You have inserted affiliate links to a product you are passionate about and know will help them. So, at the end of your report, all paths lead to this offer. They have no choice but to either click out of your report or click to the offer.
Since they were impressed by your compelling free offer, they click through to the offer and purchase based on your recommendation.
It is at this point that you can pat yourself on the back as your report made a sale – with many more to come!
Final Thoughts
A compelling free offer is just that – an offer that is free for the taking, but is so targeted with information that it compels them to give you their name and email to receive it.
The steps to create one are simple and methodical. Pick a topic you know or have a passion for, make an outline of interesting content and make it lead somewhere.
What about you? Have you created a compelling free offer? Anything to add to these guidelines?

Hi Christine, some very good points that you make in this post. The whole point is to give people value. By doing this you gain their trust and then they are more likely to click on your link to a paid product. Plr can be a short cut,but once again it must be of good quality and offer value. I have come across some bad plr in the past but if you dig around a bit their is some good stuff to be found.
All the best,
Gerald.
Hi Gerald,
Exactly! Good PLR is not always easy to come by.
Thanks for stopping by!

Hello Christina. I liked you very first point. If you can make people completely motivated to action and excited of the future, I think you have done a good job with your free offer, and that person is definitely going to open your email to find out more.
Hi Ivin,
Thanks!
Exactly – setting the stage for future communication is important.
Glad you enjoyed it!
