Welcome Back To My DoFollow Blog! I’d Like to Extend a Big Thank You to You and Give You FREE Access to my “101 Ways to Connect for E-commerce” Report. Discover NEW Key Ways to Reach Your Audience! ~ Christine Brady
The past 24 hours have been a whirlwind of movin’ and shakin’. Things are happening over here and over there.
Here’s what I mean…
I’ve been introducing my plan little by little to you – if you remember I want to end the month of April with at least 400 subscribers on my (new) list.
Not much has happened as far as the subscriber count goes, so no update there.
BUT, I have been rocking and rolling on content.
Yesterday I mentioned pushing out a ton of content was my focus for gaining subscribers organically (free).
I am in the throws of it right now – I don’t think I’ve written this much in a very long time.
It’s a good feeling for sure.
What to do with all this content
But, publishing content on my blog is not going to be enough to gain subscribers. If you recall, you always want to publish articles on your own blog first. That is why you’ll see some posts titles “Article 1, Article 2, etc.” on my blog. The reason for this is that 1) I want search engines to index my content on my own site first and 2) I wanted you to be able to reference these articles. They are uniquely written for syndication.
The real growth with these articles is going to happen after they have been indexed. By the time this post publishes, they should be able to be found in a search for the title.
Places to go
Every article I write will be submitted to article directories. First place to head to is Ezinearticles.com – a quick submit there – copying and pasting and it’s done.
Next I go over to Ideamarketers.com and do the same thing.
Then I go to Articlesbase.com and do the same process.
What I will do next is convert the articles into PDFs and submit them to document sharing sites like Scribd.com. This process takes a bit more time initially because I have to take the article and make a cover page for it, then submit it. But, this will further my content reach. Plus, I can put direct links in the document, unlike the article directories where my links are delegated to the resource box and can’t be a direct affiliate link.
What ELSE to do with content
Besides article directories and document sharing sites, I also do social bookmarking on every post. SocialMonkee.com is the place I use – they give you 25 free bookmarks, but you can upgrade and submit to even more places. Due to the money I will be spending on paid traffic, I am not going to upgrade this account at this time.
Another place I’ve used before, but not in a long time is blogcarnival.com. BlogCarnival.com also helps spread your content around the web. How it works is you submit a post to be included in a mega blog post on the hosts’ blog. I headed over there and submitted a post for the April carnival.
I also use Pingoat.com to ping my posts. There is a chance of pinging too much, which would be considered spamming. Fortunately, pingoat.com will alert you if you’ve pinged too often.
Socially
I had mentioned using Facebook and Twitter with caution – my posts autofeed to Twitter whenever they are published. I do post links to my new posts on Facebook and to a few groups that I am in.
One thing that I need to focus on more is commenting on other blogs. Getting so wrapped up in writing and publishing my own content has lead to a lag in reading other blogs, so I going to read some other blogs today. Returning those who leave me a comment is priority though J
A paid ad
Remember the paid traffic I talked about? Well, I have a paid ad scheduled for Saturday. * Just heard from the seller and it will go out today! I am really looking forward to this ad as it will tell me several things – how well my email copy converts, how well the squeeze page actually converts (even though this is a done-for-you squeeze page, I still want to know how many opt-ins in relation to clicks I get) and how many sales I get.
So this will be an interesting traffic test!
Wrap it all up
So, right now, I will be busy writing more articles, visiting other blogs and otherwise being more social. The key to getting more traffic is getting in front of more people – so I expect that all of my efforts will be like a layering process. One thing leads to another and another and another.
Will you do me a favor and share this journey with others?
And in your comment, let me know if you are building a list and what you find to be the most challenging part -

Hi Christine,
Thanks for sharing your efforts and ideas. Can I ask: do you find article directories very effective in driving traffic to your blog? I have considered adding my posts previously but I’m not sure of the results and whether it ‘de-values’ the content. I would love any thoughts and experiences you are willing to share.
Thanks so much!

Hi Caylie,
From my experience, submitting content to article directories does bring a good amount of visitors to my blog. But there is a right way for submitting to article directories – titles, category, tags, etc. all play a part in getting the most click-thrus to your website.
I’ll do a better update tomorrow
And syndicating your content is a good thing – think of it as you’re publishing a book. You want to show off your best pages to gain more credibility (and fame) for your book. Syndicate your content to bring them back to your main hub.

Copying and pasting your blog articles to article directories? Wouldn’t that cause search engines to penalize your blog for duplicated content? Anyway, I like your articles here on this blog. Do come over to my blog and drop a comment or two if you feel like doing so Christine

Hi Peter,
Actually no, duplicate content has to do with duplicate content on your own site or blog. Publishing content in article directories is syndicating content. I wrote about it here actually

Thanks for stopping by – will hop over to visit you as well!

Hi Akos,
Glad you enjoyed it!
Yes, definitely try socialmonkee.com – it is basically the same thing as bookmarking demon though.
