How long does it take you to compose a blog post?

30 minutes?

1 hour?

a few hours?

Whatever your answer, I’m willing to bet it is more than 2 minutes, right?

Unfortunately, most readers do not spend 2 minutes reading a blog post.  They don’t even spend one minute!

Did you know that a short blog post can be read in under 10 seconds?

That’s right – a whooping 10 seconds and they click off your page to go to another.

So this installment of 19 days of traffic tips is going to focus on leveraging your content.  Content is King – that phrase is thrown around quite often on the web.  But, I’m using it in a different light today -

While quality and originality of your content is important, as I pointed out on the first day’s traffic tip here, I’m giving it another meaning too.

Imagine this for a moment – you have a king sitting on his throne, all dressed in royal red clothing, adorned with necklaces and jewels.  Sitting on the top of his head is a crown – not just any crown but a crown of content, your content.  There are articles, short blog posts, long blog posts, pictures, videos, everything -

The king’s right hand man is beneath him – your blog platform in this case.

Then you have all these loyal subjects, all aiming to please the king and doing whatever it takes to do that.  As the king has all the content, he leverages it out to all his subjects to pass along.

He sends it to his Facebook subject, then to his loyal Twitter subject, then he passes it along to a blog community to share with others.  He’s getting maximum results with minimal effort on his part.

What this means for you in today’s traffic tip is to practice being the king – get the most from one piece of content.  Content is forever; it can pass through many hands, all leading back to its original source – YOU!

One place to spread out your content is to a blogging community called BloggersBase.  BloggersBase is an online community of bloggers who post content and act as editors as well.

It takes just a few minutes to upload content there, as I did here last night, and then you have added another stream of visitors to your blogging efforts.

While on BloggersBase, read some of the other blogs there and check out their content.  You can gather a lot of useful tips and ideas for other posts, just by being in this community.

So, take some time and get to know BloggersBase – and that is the traffic focus for today.
